The Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) has announced its comprehensive security measures for the Holy Week, securing 39 big churches, along with smaller churches in rural areas, as part of its Oplan Holy Week measures.

PSSO head Angel Sumagaysay,during the I-Speak Media Forum on Thursday, said more than 3,000 personnel will be deployed to safeguard tourist destinations, transportation terminals, and churches.

The security cluster is composed of various agencies, including the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Civil Security Unit (CSU), City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Ancillary Services Unit (ASU), City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), and City Health Office (CHO).

The Archdiocese of Davao has also outlined a series of events for Holy Week which include the Palm Sunday on April 13 and Recollection and Confession from April 14 to 16, where Dabawenyos will have an opportunity for spiritual reflection and reconciliation.

Churches will also have Eucharistic Adoration on April 17, Station of the Cross on April 18, Easter Vigil on April 19, and Easter Sunday on April 20.

These events are expected to draw large crowds.

Sumagaysay also urged Dabawenyos to cooperate with security personnel and remain vigilant during the Holy Week activities. CIO
