The Davao City Veterinarian’s Office (CVO) continues to bring its services closer to Dabawenyos through its district offices and in coordination with the barangays around the city as part of its rabies control and animal husbandry disease prevention and control programs.

The CVO will have barangay visits to conduct free castration and anti-rabies vaccination activities, as well as Veterinary Integrated Barangay Extension Services (VIBES) to several barangays in the month of May.

On May 10, the CVO will conduct free anti-rabies vaccination activity at the gymnasiums or chapels in Lanzona Subdivision, Poly Subdivision, Cristina Village, Victoria Village, Alpha Homes Phase 1 and Phase 2, Del Carmen, Seaside 2, RPJ Village, Shanghai Village, San Isidro Village, Matina Executive Homes, and Punta Dumalag from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

Personnel from the CVO will also be in Barangays Callawa and Tawan-Tawan on May 19 to offer free anti-rabies vaccination to cats and dogs, while on May 21 they will be in Barangays Callawa and Baguio Proper to offer the same.

On May 22, CVO personnel will be providing free anti-rabies vaccination in Barangays Gatungan, Callawa, and Tambobong; and in Barangays Gatungan and Barangay Wines on May 23.

The CVO personnel will be in Barangay Acacia on May 26, Barangays Sirawan and Acacia on May 27, in Barangays Malagos and Acacia on May 28, Barangay Carmen on May 29, and Barangay Cadalian on May 30 to offer free anti-rabies vaccination.

Interested Dabawenyos may visit the nearest gymnasium or chapel in the aforementioned areas to avail of the free anti-rabies vaccination services.

The CVO will also be in Barangay Panacan on May 14, Barangay Cabantian on May 16, and
Barangay Lizada on May 29 for their free castration services.

Meanwhile, livestock owners in Barangay Tigatto may avail of CVO’s VIBES program on May 19, and in Bago Aplaya on May 26.

Dr. Gay Pallar, CVO’s Acting Assistant Department Head, said that these schedules are still subject to change under certain circumstances.

VIBES and synchronization activities will also be conducted in Barangay Malabog on May 30.

The VIBES program is a combination of veterinary services that include pregnancy diagnosis in female large animals, deworming livestock and poultry, consultation and treatment, artificial insemination, synchronization and vitamin supplementation.

Hemosep vaccination and hog cholera vaccination is also offered during VIBES as well as anti-rabies vaccination.
