The City Population Office, under the City Health Office (CHO), is eyeing the establishment of a men’s health center to give emphasis and focus on the service provision for men.

Ms. Jerrielyn B. Lewis, Chief of the City Population Division, said in an interview with the Kabataan, Pamilya ug Katilingban Program over city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on Monday, that their office is planning on executing the project for men’s health in 2024.

“For this year, we will try to initiate the project on men’s health. Kani siya, ang intention ani is to focus sa katong mga issues on men, especially on prostate cancer, kanang mga personal sexual issues sa men nga pwede nila dalaon sa men’s health clinic [For this year, we will try to initiate a project on men’s health. This project intends to focus on men’s health-related issues, especially prostate cancer, and personal sexual issues that they can consult with the men’s health clinic],” she said.

Lewis said they are hoping to institutionalize the facility this year since they already have the final plans as well as the manpower.

“Hopefully masugdan siya ug ma-institutionalize namo ang facility mismo; kay naa naman ang plano, naa na ang tao. So siyempre, designan pa na siya og facility kung unsaon ang schedule kay siyempre manginahanglan naman ta’g professional ana, dili lang man kami manginahanglan nami’g doctor”

Lewis also said that their office plans to continue their efforts in reaching out to the male population by intensifying their information dissemination on men’s health and practices through lectures that also include discussion on gender sensitivity and the risky lifestyle of men.

According to Lewis, the CHO will also ensure that there is a balance between their information dissemination and service provision. CIO
