Around 500 residents of Paquibato District benefitted from the free medical mission organized by Peace 911 in Barangay Fatima on Friday, May 23.
The medical mission was held during Peace 911’s seventh anniversary.
Pamela Kent Chamen, Development Management Officer I of the Peace 911, said that the initiative was aimed at bringing essential healthcare services closer to the community.
She said during the medical mission, several services were offered including medical consultations, laboratory tests, eye care, dental services, family planning, and immunization programs.
Additional services such as nutrition counselling, pharmacy support, electrocardiogram (ECG), chest x-rays, ultrasounds for pregnant women, and operation tuli (circumcision) were also provided, along with a free haircut service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Chamen highlighted the residents’ enthusiasm for the event, noting that previous medical missions have been well-received by the community.
“Dili ni sya first time, nabuhat na nato ni last year. Importante gyod ni’ng medical mission kay isa gyod ni sa mga hangyo sa katawhan diri sa Paquibato ug Marilog, ug syempre kami sa Peace 911, ang amoa gyog gusto ihatag is to bring the government services closer to the people (This is not the first time, we did it last year. This medical mission is really important because it is one of the requests of the people here in Paquibato and Marilog, and, of course we at Peace 911, our main goal is to bring government services closer to the people),” she said.
Rosemarie Martin, a 23-year old resident of Barangay Paquibato, expressed her gratitude to the City Government of Davao for the initiative.
“Dako gyod kaayo siya nga tabang kay layo man god kaayo mi diri og hospital so pinaagi ani, ang mga lumulupyo diri kay libre nga maka-avail sa mga [medical] services (It is a big help because our area is rally far from the hospital, so through this free medical mission, the residents here can avail the medical services),” she said.
