A commendable act of honesty and integrity was demonstrated by Davao City Civil Security Guard (CSG) Nelson Cayetano after he returned an unattended belt bag containing P239,600 cash.
Cayetano was doing his routine patrol at the Davao City Hall entrance on Tuesday evening, March 11, when he spotted an unattended belt bag. When he discovered that the belt bag contained cash, he immediately handed it to the officer at the City Hall entrance desk.
After around 25 minutes, PCpl Karlo Concha Bacero, a member of the Philippine National Police from Cotabato City, came to claim the bag.
Bacero, who had arrived in Davao City on March 10 for his daughter’s surgery, explained that the money had been loaned to cover medical expenses.
He recounted how he had accidentally left the belt bag behind while taking a photo of City Hall.
The City Hall’s CCTV footage verified Bacero’s account, confirming his ownership of the bag.
Bacero conveyed his sincere gratitude to the City Government for its effective management of the matter.
