The City College of Davao (CCD) celebrated its fifth founding anniversary with activities promoting the skills and talents of its students.

CCD was established in January 2020 following the passage of the ordinance that decreed its creation.

Various activities took place during the weeklong celebration, including a bloodletting activity in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross on January 20, competitions in every program, and the Mutya ng CCD on the eve of its culmination day on January 22.

Students of CCD’s Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship program also mounted a bazaar that opened on January 16.

The culmination ceremony of the event was participated in by Davao City Vice Mayor J. Melchor Quitain, and City Councilor Myrna L. Dalodo-Ortiz.

City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, in a message read by Vice Mayor Quitain, said that the fifth founding anniversary of the institution is a testament to its commitment to “providing quality education and shaping the future” of young Dabawenyos.

“Since its establishment, the City College of Davao has been a source of hope and excellence, nurturing the minds and talents of students who aspired to make a significant difference in their lives,” he said.

“As we celebrate five years of service and excellence, we look forward to witnessing the continued growth and success of the CCD community in the years to come,” he added.

Duterte also assured the institution and its constituents that the city government will continue to serve as its steadfast partner in ensuring that the CCD remains “an inclusive, accessible, and transformative learning environment,” where Dabawenyo students will thrive and reach their full potential.

He also urged the students of the institution to continue pursuing their dreams with passion, determination, and resilience.

“May you always remember that your hardwork and perseverance today will pave the way to a brighter tomorrow, not just for yourselves but for the community you uplift and inspire,” Duterte said.

Jamaica Magayo, CCD’s Vice President for Administration, said in an interview with the City Information Office (CIO) that they were grateful for the support of the city government in ensuring that the institution can provide quality education to Dabawenyo students.

“Wala gyud mi kabati nga mura’g napasagdan mi every time nga muduol mi didto sa kanang mga times nga mura’g wala mi available resources diri (The City Government never neglected us. Whenever we need assistance, they always provide us with the resources that we need),” he said. CIO
