The Davao City Economic Enterprise’s (CEE) slaughterhouse operations reached P33,945,420.03 in revenue collection in 2024.
This is 3.61 percent higher than its 2023 income of P32,761,194.05.
CEE’s slaughterhouse operations are comprised of Malagos Halal and Non-Halal Slaughterhouses and the Maa Slaughterhouse currently operated by the Bankerohan Livestock Multipurpose Cooperative.
CEE Manager Maximo Macalipes Jr. said that in 2024 the Maa Slaughterhouse achieved 99.52 percent of its target collection amounting to P13,136,236.96, while the Malagos Slaughterhouses was able to generate an income amounting to P20,809,180.07.
He added that in 2024 the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) conducted an inspection in the Halal Slaughterhouse for the issuance of License to Operate (LTO) Certificate.
“We also conducted a dry-run for rabbit slaughtering, and a Halal audit on a full certification of the slaughterhouse to be a Halal Certified was conducted by the Mindanao Halal Authority,” he added.
A series of benchmarking activities was also hosted by the Malagos Non-Halal Slaughterhouse in 2024 wherein four local government units from Region 12 were accommodated.
Macalipes added that the Non-Halal Slaughterhouse also had seminars on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), and Animal Welfare. This was followed by a NMIS audit which secured an NMIS License to Operate valid for three years.
He also shared that the Non-Halal Slaughterhouse is a “AA” slaughterhouse.
“‘AA’ signifies that the facility was accredited by the NMIS with a high standard of hygiene and operational procedures. This means that we are allowed to distribute meat products nationwide,” Macalipes said. CIO
