The City Tourism Operations Office (CTTO) opened on May 1 the online application for the Reyna ng Davao 2025, which is part of Duaw Davao, the city’s main celebrations and tourist attraction for the second quarter.
CTOO Head Jennifer Romero told Madayaw Davao after the Monday weekly flag ceremony that the guidelines have been posted and the office will be accepting online applications starting May 1. The deadline will be on May 20, 2025.
“Online application gihapon siya so that we can manage the application during the screening time. But we will still allow if naa gihapon mag decide nga mag walk-in during the screening time and visit the venue from 8 am to 5 pm (We will use the online application system so that we can manage the applications, especially during the screening time. But we will still allow walk-ins should they decide to join during the screening time and visit the venue from 8 am to 5 pm),” she said.
Romero said that the screening date will be on May 23, 2025 but the venue has yet to be announced.
The preliminary preparations are also set. There will be an orientation, workshop,
photoshoot and CSR activities leading to the Grand Coronation set on June 20, 2025.
Romero said that the major changes in the mechanics included the removal of the talent portion in the preliminaries.
“Naa gihapon siya’y preliminaries but we will take out the talent competition, we will focus more sa ilahang kaalam. We will focus more nga atong mailhan ang atong candidates (There will still be preliminaries but we will take out the talent competition and we will focus more on their knowledge. We will focus more on knowing the candidates),” she said.
Romero said that they also added a guideline pertaining to the resignation of winning candidates.
“We followed the same mechanics pero ato siyang gidagdagan regarding sa possible resignation.. only the main title holder will be replaced and if ever the runners-up will resign there will be no replacement (We followed the same mechanics but we added a provision on possible resignations, only the main title holder will be replaced and if ever the runners-up will resign there will be no replacement),” Romero said.
She added that the Executive Committee has already approved the guideline and it will be applied not only for Reyna but also in the other city pageants such as Mutya ng Davao and Hiyas ng Kadayawan.
She said that this is in light of the recent resignation of a Mutya ng Dabaw runner-up.
Meanwhile, the resignation of the title-holder or of the runner-up results in the termination of their contract.
Part of their contract is to work with the CTOO in conducting its advocacies, serving as ambassadresses of the city in events, and attending official engagements based on CTOO’s request.
This year, Romero said that they have designated official names for the 1st Runner-Up and 2nd Runner-Up for the Reyna ng Dabaw 2025.
