The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO)-Central 911 held a graduation rites for the Law Enforcement, Communications, and Research Division (LECRD)-Central 911 trainees, and a pinning ceremony for new full-fledged Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on Friday.

The event recognized five Emergency Calls Answering Point and Dispatch (ECAP-D) trainees who completed their four-month program, as well as 14 emergency medical services (EMS) trainees who finished six months of rigorous training. Additionally, five new full-fledged Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) were formally pinned after successfully passing their assessments.

During the pinning ceremony, five new full-fledged emergency medical technicians (EMTs) were also recognized for completing their rigorous training and assessments.

Ret. PLtCol. Alfredo D. Baloran, head of the CDRRMO, urged the graduates to continue enhancing and practicing their skills and capabilities even when they have already graduated.

“Ayaw ninyo undangi sa pagtuon ug pagpractice [kung] unsa to’ng gipangtudlo sa inyoha sa inyong mga instructors and mga doctors kay magamit ninyo na. That will be useful during your evaluations (Don’t stop learning and practicing what your instructors and what the doctors taught you),” he said.

Lyndon L. Ancajas, LECRD 911 Division Head, also reminded the graduates to always provide the highest quality of service to the public.

“Always ensure nga quality public service ang atoang ihatag sa atoang katawhan kay we are dealing with lives (Always provide quality service—we handle lives),” he said.

Acting Vice Mayor Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II also acknowledged the hardwork and dedication of the graduates during their training which led them to this milestone.

“Your six-month intensive training was never easy. It was pure hardwork and dedication—a dedication to serve the people, to protect, and to help those in need, especially during emergencies and disasters,” he said.

“Your commitment to your duties, desire to serve the people, and passion to extend a helping hand made you stay and finish strong,” Duterte furthered.

He also urged them to remain steadfast in their mandate “to provide immediate and effective response to emergencies and disasters.”

The graduates reflected on months of training that sharpened their skills in disaster response and forged lasting camaraderie. The ceremony closed with a warm welcome for the new recruits into the Central 911 team. CIO
