The City Agriculturist Office is a local government office mandated to bring about genuine reforms and real change that would uplift the lives of our farmers and fisherfolk as well as our entrepreneurs, consumers and ordinary citizens.  The office was created sometime in 1948 under the leadership of Mr. Pablo Piatos as the City Agriculturist. In 1991, Republic Act No. 7160 was approved otherwise known as The Local Government Code of the Philippines. It was then implemented in 1993 wherein the extension workers and some of the properties of the National Government Agencies (NGAs) were devolved to the Local Government Units (LGUs) all over the country. One of the objectives of the devolution is to equip the manpower requirement to deliver the basic services promptly and appropriately to the clientele. Today, the City Agriculturist Office is servicing one hundred eighty-two (182) barangays in eight (8) Political Districts under the three (3) Congressional Districts of the city including the poblacion area which has forty (40) barangays.
