The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is fast tracking the financial assistance for the families affected by the August 23, 2024 fire incident in Barangay 5-A.

CSWDO Acting Officer-In-Charge Julie P. Dayaday on Tuesday said that the validation on the number of affected residents was completed and as of Tuesday, they were working on the additional requirements needed.

“Karon ginaprepare na nato ang atong documents, for us to provide and ma process ang financial assistance nato (We are currently preparing our documents,
for us to provide and process the financial assistance,)” Dayaday said.

She said that 48 houses are totally damaged, and 10 others were partially damaged.

The fire incident in Purok 6-A and 6-B of Barangay 5-A affected 58 house owners, 44 sharers, 28 renters, two boarders and a caretaker.

In all, 133 families were affected with 307 dependents.

The families are currently staying at the Barangay 5-A Gym.

Dayaday said that welfare goods, hygiene kits and food packs were already given to the affected residents.

“The mobile kitchen was deployed in the area from Friday until Monday,” she said, adding that community cooking has started on Tuesday with the augmentation of rice and canned goods by her office.

Dayaday said the affected residents might be staying at the evacuation site for about 15 days at the most. She said they were hoping that a number of residents will have returned to their homes by then. CIO
