In recognition of the contribution of women’s groups in the community, the Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) held a search for the Most Outstanding Women’s Organization in the city.
The search was participated in by 15 different women’s organizations from different districts in the city.
During the awarding ceremony on October 26, the Cluster 1 Bal-as TOH Upper Sirib SLPA Women’s Association from Calinan District, was recognized as the 2024 Most Outstanding Women’s Organization.
Aubrey Relacion, CSWDO’s Women’s Welfare Focal Person, said it was the third year that the CSWDO has given out such award.
“Gihimo nato ni para ma-recognize pud ang mga efforts sa atoang women sector diha sa community labi na daghan kaayo ta’g organized women karon sa Davao City (We hold this awarding to recognize the efforts of the women sector in the community especially now that the city has numerous women’s organization),” she said in an interview with the City Information Office.
Davao City has some 1,000 active women’s organizations that play vital roles in the socio-economic development of the city.
Mayor Sebastian Duterte, in a message read by City Councilor Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz, commended the women’s organizations for their assistance to the city government in addressing the current gaps and challenges through their commitment in protecting and upholding the welfare of every Dabawenya.
“This event is a testament to your invaluable contribution to the socio-economic development of your respective barangays as well as your commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and unity among women in the city,” the mayor added.
The CSWDO, through its Women Welfare Program, continues to provide services and support to every Dabawenya through capability-building trainings and other services necessary to ensure that the welfare of women are being upheld. CIO
