It was a night of wit and grace at the preliminary competition for the Mutya ng Dabaw 2025 pageant on Sunday.
The preliminary competition, held at the Annex Event Center of the SM City Davao, became an exciting spectacle that featured the 20 candidates sashaying in their national costumes and evening gowns.
The candidates’ wit and intelligence were later put to test in the preliminary interviews.
In the national costume and evening gown competition, each contestant proudly wore colorful, elaborately constructed, and culturally-rich national costume. Following the national costume segment, the candidates graced the stage in their evening gowns.
The nail-biting moment of the evening was the Preliminary Interview where the candidates had the chance to show their intelligence and eloquence. The contestants were asked one question that tested their knowledge and personality.
This year’s Mutya ng Dabaw winner will take home a P450,000 cash prize. The winner will also be given 100 sacks of rice to donate to a charity of her choice.
The runners-up– Diwa ng Dabaw and Sinag ng Dabaw winners will receive P300,000 and P250,000, respectively. The Pag-asa ng Dabaw and Patnubay ng Dabaw will receive P150,000 and P125,000, respectively.
The 20 official candidates will advance to the coronation night at the University of the Southeastern Philippines Gymnasium on March 15.
