The City Government of Davao, through the City Agriculturist’s Office (CAgrO), joins the celebration of Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month with activities that will highlight the role of farmers and fisherfolk in the community.

This year’s theme is “Mag-uuma ug mangingisdang Dabawenyo katambayayong sa kalambuan sa dakbayan pasidunggan.”

James Arly Danac, CAgrO’s Supervising Home Management Specialist, on Monday said they were planning to hold the celebration in the six district offices “to honor farmers by bringing the activities closer to them.”

On May 16, CAgrO Tugbok District Office will be holding a thanksgiving mass followed by agri-fishery services and activities in Barangay New Valencia, Tugbok District.

CAgrO Toril District will kick-off the celebration on May 19 with a five-day trade fair at the Toril District Plaza, and will culminate on May 22.

The CAgrO Buhangin-Bunawan District Office will have its celebration on May 20 at the Buhangin Gym, while on May 26, CAgrO Marilog District Office will hold its celebration at the Malagos Gym.

CAgrO Calinan District Office will have its celebration at the Calinan Gym on May 28, and on May 29, CAgrO Marilog District Office will hold a celebration at the TARBECO in Barangay Tamugan.

A technical forum on cacao will be conducted at the Grand Menseng Hotel on May 15, while on May 22, a technical forum on durian will be held at the World Palace Business Center.

There will also be an orientation on the Community Food Farm project on May 16 in Barangay Gumalang, Baguio District.

CAgrO will also conduct a series of Project Lawa trainings, which focus on fishery and vegetable production, in various barangays.

Dabawenyos are urged to support the city’s farmers and fisherfolk by purchasing their products.

CAgrO has several programs that support the trading of farmers’ and fisherfolk’s produce including the Organic Farmers’ Market at the Rizal Park that is open every Thursday and Friday, as well as the Taboan in the Davao Food Terminal Complex (DFTC) that is open daily. CIO
