The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRMMO) held on Friday its 2nd year of blood donation drive.
The blood donation drive, held at the CDRRMO-911 Compound, Sandawa Base om Daang Patnubay St., SIR New Matina, started at 6 am and ended at 3 pm.
Personnel from the Department of Health and medical personnel from the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) assisted in the blood letting activity.
CDRRMO head Alfredo Baloran told Madayaw that the activity is in observance of the national disaster resilience month.
“Sa karon naa tay mga donors from disaster council members and also volunteers nga nag donate sa ilahang dugo (As of the moment we have donors coming from disaster councils and also volunteers who donated their blood),” Baloran said.
Baloran added that more than a donation drive, the activity is also a blood banking effort.
“Kung ikaw donor pwede nimo magamit ang dugo pwde pud nimo siya mapagamit sa imong relatives ug mga kaila og needed nila ang tabang (If you are a donor, you can use the blood and you can also allow others to use it, in case they will need help),” Baloran said.
He said that for Friday’s donation drive, they targeted 600 participants.
The donors were from the Bureau of Fire Protection, San Pedro College, and local offices of the City Government.
He said that they are hopeful about holding more donation drives in the future and make it a twice a year activity by next year as they saw its importance. CIO
