Duaw Davao’s Films and Arts Exhibit, and Tourismo and Food Bazaar kicked off on June 25 immersing Dabawenyos in a convergence of talents, flavors, and tourism.
Films and Arts Exhibit, and Tourismo and Food Bazaar is one of the official events for this year’s Duaw Davao that highlights the creativity of Dabawenyos through the films and arts exhibit while at the same time promoting the tourism and food industry.
The exhibit and food bazaar runs from June 25–29 at the Rizal Park, and opens at 10 a.m.
At least 22 local artists and art groups are participating in the arts exhibit, while seven local films produced by local filmmakers will be featured in the film exhibit.
Five tourist-centered booths are also set up parallel to the exhibit area including booths from the Davao Tourism Association, DASIG Turismo, Davao Hotel and Resorts Sales and Marketing Association, Department of Tourism Region XI, and Davao Association of Tour Operators.
Meanwhile, Museo Dabawenyo, in partnership with Gapnod Art Group, mounted a sculpture exhibit inside the arts exhibit section.
Eight Davao artists are featured in “The Notes from the Shore: a sculpture exhibition” to share memories shaped by the sea, sun, and silence carved out of driftwood.
Atty. Francis Mark Layog, Davao City Administrator, said the event aims to bring together visual arts, creative expression, and culinary innovation in one festival celebration.
“We have created a platform for our local creatives in films, arts, tourism stakeholders, and food entrepreneurs to showcase their work and to engage with locals and tourists alike,” he said.
He also invited Dabawenyos to visit the arts and film exhibit, and take part in the vibrant celebration of Dabawenyo heritage. CIO
