The City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) on Sunday announced the winners in the Duaw Davao’s Esports Tournament following the event’s grand finals on June 14.
The Esports Festival is one of the official events of the Duaw Davao Festival that aims to establish esports as a recognized sports and entertainment medium.
It also intends to strengthen bonds within the local gaming community, and highlight Davao’s emergence as a key esports destination in Mindanao.
With eight teams competing for Call of Duty Mobile: Multiplayer (CODM: MP), and 32 teams competing for the Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB), Saturday’s grand finals was an intense match among talented gamers.
Emerging at the top for CODM was Elunari KTLX, followed by AxG Ineffable TGM, and ELT Sigma Boys.
Elunari KTLX received a P50,000 cash prize, medals and trophies, while the teams who won second and third places received P10,000 each with medals.
Meanwhile, Crimson Thunder won first place in MLBB, followed by Team Hyperium and MDM Deus in the second and third places respectively.
Winners of the MLBB tournament received cash prizes amounting to P100,000 for first place with medals and trophies; P40,000 with medals for second place; and P20,000 with medals for third place.
CTOO Head Jennifer Romero, in a message read by Charlotte Parba, CTOO’s Administrative Officer, said that the grand finals of the Esports Tournament witnessed not just a battle of champions, but also a celebration of talent, teamwork, and a thriving esports culture in the city.
The CTOO and the organizing committee of the Esports tournament extended its gratitude to the competing teams and gamers who took part in the event.
