The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) announced on Monday the closure of Roxas Avenue on June 6, 2025, in line with the centralized Eid’l Adha congregational prayer.

The CTTMO said the closure will start at midnight until 9 a.m. of June 6 to accommodate the religious activity.

The 20th Davao City Council on May 27, 2025, approved Ordinance No: 825-25, allowing the road closure covering both portions of Roxas Avenue—in front of the Ateneo de Davao University and the Aldevinco area.

Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) Head Angel Sumagaysay told reporters on Monday that they already held a coordination security and safety meeting with the officers of the Muslim community for the event. The city government will deploy at least 500 security and safety personnel for the event.

Malacañang has declared June 6, 2025 a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice.

Eid’l Adha, one of the two greatest feasts in Islam, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as a form of obedience to Allah. CIO
