In light of sporadic weather conditions, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has reminded Dabawenyos anew to take heed of preemptive evacuation advisories issued by the office.
CDRRMO Head Alfredo Baloran told Madayaw Davao that failure to comply with the advisories may result in penalties under a local ordinance.
“Tumanon ta ang atoang preemptive evacuation. Naay balaod, naa’y ordinansa sa Davao City for preemptive evacuation. Dili pud mi gusto sa atong opisina nga kadtong mga gahig ulo nga nagdumili nga musunod sa atong ordinance. Mapugos pud mi og pag-implementar (Let us follow the preemptive evacuation. There is a law, an ordinance in Davao City for preemptive evacuation. We do not want to deal with stubborn individuals who refuse to follow the ordinance. We will be forced to implement it as mandated),” Baloran said.
Ordinance No. 0246-23, or the “Ordinance Establishing the Integrated Preemptive Emergency Evacuation System in Case of Emergency Caused by Natural or Man-Made Hazards or Disasters and Providing Penalties Thereof”, Series of 2023, penalizes individuals who willfully or forcefully delay rescue operations, or resist or refuse to evacuate despite imminent danger and a declared preemptive evacuation. Violators may face a fine of Php 5,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one month, at the discretion of the court.

Baloran advised Dabawenyos to stay alert and heed official advisories, as they may be at risk due to rapidly changing weather conditions.
The advisories issued by the CDRRMO are intended for the public’s safety and welfare. These are posted on the official Facebook page and Viber account of the CDRRMO, and are also disseminated through the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (BDRRMCs). CIO
