The Lingap Para sa Mahirap’s Poblacion satellite office has already catered to 1,718 individuals from January to April this year.

Since its official opening on September 25 last year, the Lingap Poblacion, located inside the Almendras Gymnasium Compound, has seen a steady increase in the number of people seeking financial assistance.

Prior to its current surge of applicants for assistance, Lingap Poblacion assisted 811 clients from September to December 2024. It served 21 clients in September, 236 in October, 269 in November, and 285 in December.

Social Worker Shella Maturan, Team Leader of Lingap Poblacion, in an interview over city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR), said most of their clients seek assistance primarily for hospital bills, followed closely by laboratory expenses, and funeral-related aid.

She said that most of their clients come from Barangay Bucana, followed by Talomo, Matina Crossing, Catalunan Grande, and Maa.

She emphasized that the processing time at Lingap Poblacion typically takes no less than 10 minutes when all necessary documents are provided. However, delays may occur if submitted bills or medical certifications are incomplete.

“Pati pod ang medical certification. Kaning naay pirma sa doctor pero wala’y license number. So kinahanglan naay pangalan sa doctor, pirma, then license number (The medical certification as well. If the certification bears the doctor’s signature without a corresponding license number),” she said.

She said that for those availing services from private providers, the program mandates that immediate family submit the documents directly, unless the provider is the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), where an authorization letter may be accepted.

“Kapag private provider man god, dili man god mi gadawat og authorization letter maong kinahanglan nga immediate family gyod ang mag-process kapag private provider. Nagadawat lang mi’g authorization if SPMC nga provider (If it is a private provider, we do not accept an authorization letter, so the immediate family must process it if it is a private provider. We only accept authorization if the provider is SPMC),” she said.

She said that accredited and partnered hospitals with Lingap Poblacion include Anda Riverview Hospital, Ricardo Limso Medical Center, Brokenshire Hospital, and Davao Doctors Hospital.

The Lingap Para sa Mahirap Program also has satellite offices in Calinan, Marilog, Toril, Bunawan, Paquibato, and the Almendras Gymnasium compound.
