The City Government of Davao, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), has provided annual subsidies to a total of 126,576 senior citizens.

The financial assistance, amounting to P1,500 per beneficiary, is part of the city’s initiative to support seniors with essential needs such as food, medical expenses, and other health essentials, in accordance with Ordinance No. 0954-22.

Social Worker Ruth Naive, Focal Person of the Senior Citizen Welfare Program, in an interview with the Madayaw Program over city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) said that the CSWDO is targeting to extend subsidies to 170,000 seniors across Davao City.

She said from October 2024 to April 16 this year, more than 126,000 received subsidies.

Qualified senior citizens aged 60 and above, even those who are not members of any organized group, can receive the subsidy provided they possess a valid Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) I.D.

To facilitate the process, the CSWDO has organized an ongoing payout schedule across various barangays. Disbursement activities include pay-out in Barangays Ma-a on April 22, Talomo Proper on April 23, and Matina Crossing on April 25.

On April 28, the CSWDO will have a payout in Crossing Bayabas, Barangay Vicente Hizon on April 30 and May 2, Barangay Bangkas Heights, Toril on May 5, Bato, Toril on May 6, Barangays Daliao and Tagluno, Toril on May 7, and Barangay Eden and Kilate, Toril on May 8.
