The Davao City Information Technology Center (CITC) is ramping up its data security measures in preparation for the launch of the innovative Davao Citizen ID.

In a bid to safeguard sensitive information and streamline data transactions, the CITC on March 8 organized a specialized Blockchain Training to 25 computer developers in various offices in the Local Government Unit (LGU).

Jose Barber, Information Technology Officer II of CITC, said the intensive training focused on integrating Blockchain Technology into the city’s data management processes by equipping staff with the latest cybersecurity techniques.

He said the CITC aims to prevent potential hacking incidents and improve the overall efficiency of their data systems.

He said this proactive approach is also part of their efforts to protect Dabawenyos’ personal information amid cyber threats.

The 20th Davao City Council last month approved the ordinance to implement the DCitizen ID. The innovative card will simplify procedures for residents, streamlining their access to government services by combining multiple forms into a single, safe, and conveniently accessible ID.

This year, Davao City intends to introduce the “Unified Identification Card.” CIO
