The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) announced on Monday that slots are still open under the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).
.
PESO Manager Lilibeth Pantinople announced that the SPES program is conducted with private partners and is offered each year to poor but deserving students.
“Akong gusto i-announce na kadtong out of school youth na gusto mag-apply sa Gaisano Mall open pa ang atong slots wala pa ka interview ang atong private partner sa Gaisano mall and gina-priority nila kay out of school youth kay mag-work man gud sila og hours (I would like to announce that out of school youths who want to apply at Gaisano Mall, we still have slots open. The private partner has yet to conduct an interview and they will prioritize OSYs because the work would take eight hours),” Pantinople said.
She said that apart from Gaisano, the city government and other private partners also joined hands in facilitating the employment program.
“Last Saturday nag conduct ta’g orientation para ma-assign sa City Government of Davao (Last Saturday, we already conducted orientation for those who will be assigned to work at the City Government of Davao),” Pantinople said.
The slots for the fast food chain-partners under the program are also already filled up.
“This opportunity opens only once a year,” Pantinople added.
The SPES program runs up to a maximum of 78 days.
She said that public and private partners only pay 60 percent of the salary based on the minimum wage as the Department of Labor and Employment pays the remaining 40 percent.
The DOLE, for year 2025, has allocated a total of 465 slots for Davao City.
For registration, applicants may submit their resume to the PESO located at the Almendras Gym. CIO
