Mario Danza, a resident of Sitio Alon in Barangay Malabog, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the city government after the Lingap Para sa Mahirap program extended financial assistance to his family during a critical medical situation involving his 17-year-old son, Melbin.

Melbin had an accident while harvesting Abaca during a heavy downpour. He slipped on mud, with him ending with a wooden stick lodged on his body.

A medical operation was made possible through the Lingap program’s financial aid that covered the necessary hospital expenses.

“Nagpasalamat jod ko nga natabangan ko kay kung wala sila, kini akong bata pado’ng gyod ni’s kamatayon (I’m so thankful that they (city government helped me because without them, my child would have died),” he said.

Mario expressed relief that his son recovered, knowing that their financial situation would not have allowed them to afford the medical costs without Lingap’s support.

The Lingap Para sa Mahirap program continues to provide crucial financial assistance to indigent residents, including covering funeral costs, medical bills, and dialysis expenses. Cancer patients are also prioritized under the program.

From 2022 to 2024, the City Government of Davao disbursed a total of P1,707,706,889 for the Lingap para sa Mahirap Program, benefiting 570,490 Dabawenyos.

The Lingap program underscores the city’s dedication to ensuring no Dabawenyo is left behind, especially during emergencies.
