The Davao City Veterinarian’s Office (CVO) has prepared simultaneous activities in time for the Rabies Awareness Month in March.
“Davao City is preparing simultaneous activities like anti-rabies vaccination for cats and dogs, free neutering services nga atoang ipahigayon sa mga barangay, and we also have simultaneous activities like information education campaign against rabies (Davao City is preparing simultaneous activities like anti-rabies vaccination for cats and dogs, free castration services that we will conduct in the barangays, and simultaneous information education campaign against rabies),” Dr. Gay Pallar, CVO Acting Assistant Department Head, said during the ISpeak Media Forum.
This year’s theme is “Rabies-free na pusa’t aso, kaligtasan ng pamilyang Pilipino” which highlights the importance of vaccinating cats and dogs with anti-rabies vaccine.
As part of the CVO’s rabies control program, it conducts population control activities through the castration or neutering services, anti-rabies vaccination, information education campaigns on responsible pet ownership and rabies awareness, and regular impounding activities.
Dabawenyos may avail of the castration and anti-rabies vaccination services of the CVO for free.
Pallar also shared that in January, the CVO was able to vaccinate 9,075 cats and dogs.
For Dabawenyos who wish to have their cats and dogs castrated, they are reminded to bring the pet vaccination card, Manila paper, seven pieces gauze pads, 250 mL alcohol, 3-ply tissue, three pieces of 1mL syringe, three pieces 3mL syringe, and E-collar.
Pets should also be vaccinated with anti-rabies vaccine 14 days prior to the castration.
Dabawenyos who wish to avail of CVO’s free services may visit their official Facebook Page at City Veterinarian’s Office – Davao City for the schedule and other guidelines.
