The City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO), through the Araw ng Dabaw official Facebook Page, on Tuesday announced the sports festival for the 88th Araw ng Dabaw.

“Whether you’re an athlete, a coach, or a sports enthusiast, this is the event you don’t want to miss. Come and celebrate sportsmanship, unity, and the spirit of Davao,” the CTOO said.

A month-long schedule of sporting competitions, demonstrations, and other activities will be held to showcase and hone the participants’ abilities in various sports.

The competitions include boxing on March 1, karate from March 1 to 2, a children’s pushbike on March 1 and March 30, mountain bike on March 8, and a chess tournament from March 8 to March 9 and 15.

There will also be a sepak takraw competition on March 8-9 and 15-16, road cycling and marathons on March 9, dama from March 14 to 15, and bowling on March 14 to 16.

Other sports include tennis, road bike and mountain bike uphill challenge, volleyball, wrestling, arnis, kickboxing, baseball, and softball, among others.

Although some sports are limited to Dabawenyos, there are tournaments open to those living outside of Davao. Anyone interested in participating is urged to visit the City Sports Development Division office at the Davao City Recreation Center, located on Quimpo Boulevard.

Winners of the Araw sporting competitions will receive medals, trophies, and cash prizes.
