Guests led by Deputy Mayor Kouji Yoshidomi of Hitachinaka, Japan indicated their interest in exploring prospects for local growth and economic interchange in Davao City during their courtesy call on Davao City Vice Mayor Atty. J. Melchor Quitain Jr.
The courtesy call took place at the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s new Councilor’s Lounge on February 13.
In her message, April Marie Dayap, Officer-in-Charge of the Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC), emphasized the significance of the engagement, adding that the city is eager to look in to prospects for the two cities’ economic development.
“We are excited to explore new opportunities for collaboration, economic growth, and mutual development,” Dayap said.
“Thank you so much for visiting Davao City and we look forward for fruitful discussion and to further our partnership with the city government of Davao,” she added.
Deputy Mayor Yoshidomi also conveyed his hope for the two cities’ future economic cooperation.
He recalled that in 2018 and 2019, the Hitachinaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed an economic friendship agreement with the Mindanao Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, respectively. He said the COVID-19 pandemic hindered these interactions.
“We look forward to the future in the development of our city and Davao City,” he said.
Vice Mayor Quitain also thanked the delegates, emphasizing the importance of the visit to pave the way for discussions, especially in solidifying partnership between Davao and Hitachinaka City.
“We are looking forward, Deputy Mayor and Vice Mayor now that COVID is over we can go full blast and hopefully we can collaborate in the future projects,” Quitain said.
