The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) extended food and non-food assistance
to the victims of the fire that affected an of Poblacion district over the weekend.
Last February 8, a fire broke out on Malvar St. in Poblacion District, affecting one household and nearby facilities while on February 9, another fire incident broke out at UIC on Bonifacio St.
CSWDO City Poblacion A Head Amelee Buot the City Information Office on Monday that they have provided assistance to the lone family affected by the fire on Malvar St.
“Na extend na nato ang food and non-food assistance immediately after na fire out na. Nag conduct nami og validation and gina process na namo ang assistance (We have extended food and non-food assistance immediately after a fire out was declared. We conducted validation and we are already processing the assistance),” Buot said.
She said that the family members with totally damaged house will receive Php20,000.
Meanwhile, Buot said that they are thankful that there are no residential houses affected by the fire
at UIC Bonifacio St.
“Sa UIC wala kay naa ma’y firewall at least naa’y firewall wala gyud nikalat (At the UIC [there are no affected families] because there is a firewall that prevented the fire from spreading),” she said.
Buot said in light of the fire incidents, Dabawenyos should remain vigilant to prevent similar incidents.
“Mag vigilant lang gyud sila, dili pasagad sa mga electrical concern kay daghan man gud panghitabo nga ingon ana. I-ensure nga walay nakasaksak sa outlets (They should be vigilant, do not be complacent about electrical concerns, because there are already incidents that it caused fire. They must ensure that electrical devices are unplugged),” she said.
The CSWDO District offices continue to assist victims of fire incidents giving them immediate food and non food assistance and also validates damage to their homes for processing of financial assistance. CIO
