The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) on Monday said the alleged robbery incident of a female balut vendor in Agdao on January 19 was fabricated.

According to a DCPO statement on Monday, it was found that the victim had injured herself with a blade, which was later found at the place where she was selling balut.

“Following a comprehensive investigation, it has been confirmed that the incident is not a case of robbery. CCTV footage revealed that the victim fabricated her report. Contrary to her claims, there was no male suspect involved, no pepper spray used, and no assault with a ballpen point,” the DCPO statement said.

The DCPO also condemned the dishonest behavior of the vendor, stating that filing false reports not only misleads the authorities but also wastes police resources and alarms the public. The police also assured the public that anybody involved in such fraudulent operations will face the proper charges.

Dabawenyos are also urged to report events honestly and responsibly.

“Let us all work together with integrity and mutual trust to build a community that is safe, secure, and orderly,” DCPO said. CIO
