The Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) on Monday summoned for questioning the owner of the vehicle involved in a counterflowing incident.

The incident went viral on social media after a concerned motorist posted a video of a black Toyota Hilux counterflowing in one of the major roads of the city.

Based on the concerned motorist’s statement, the vehicle did not signal for any emergency warranting its action.

The concerned motorist has already filed a formal complaint to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and has provided the CTTMO with his statement regarding the incident.

“I will stand my ground nga i-pursue nako ni’ng case na ni. In fact, gikan ko sa LTO ganiha to file my official complaint against the driver of the Hilux (I will pursue this case; in fact, I already filed my formal complaint against the driver of the Hilux at the LTO),” he said in an interview.

PLt. Col. Dionisio Abude, Officer-in-Charge of the CTTMO, said his office is currently preparing to endorse the case to the LTO as it is the agency that has jurisdiction over the incident after his meeting with the owner of the vehicle.

“Ang atoang opisina nagapaningkamot nga makig-alayon ta sa LTO para kadtong nag-counterflow is ma-penalize siya. Naa ko’y giprepare karon nga endorsement kay naa man to iyang sakyanan, naa man to’y plate number so ma-endorse namo to karon sa LTO kay sila ang naa’y jurisdiction ani nga violation (The CTTMO is coordinating with the LTO to ensure that the violator will be penalized. Right now, I am preparing an endorsement since the vehicle’s plate number was documented so we can endorse it to the LTO since they have the jurisdiction for this sort of violation),” he said.

The City Government of Davao also commended the concerned motorist for standing up for the law and setting an example to other Dabawenyos.

The concerned motorist said that he only did it to set an example that should there be any road user who violates traffic rules, there will always be someone who will call them out and remind them of the city’s traffic rules and regulations.

“To everybody, pila tayo lahat. Let us not contribute to the worsening traffic situation, at least ba makatulong tayo (To everybody, let’s not cut lines or overtake. Let’s not contribute to the worsening traffic situation, instead let us help remedy it),” he added.

Abude also expressed his gratitude to the concerned motorist since although the CTTMO is working hard to enforce the traffic rules in the city, it is still hard for them to capture every single violator.

He said that the actions of the concerned motorist was a big help to their office in ensuring that the traffic rules and regulations of the city are being adhered to by the public.

“Ang gihimo ni Sir is very commendable nga at least makahatag ta’g mensahe sa atoang mga motorista nga ma-aware sila nga dapat naa gyu’d ta’y disiplina (What the concerned motorist did is very commendable because then we can send a message to our motorists to use our roads responsibly),” he said.
