As part of the city government’s initiative to intensify the anti-criminality campaign, the city government on Friday turned over motorcycles to 60 barangays.
The motorcycles will be used by the barangay tanods for patrolling to help increase visibility and responsiveness in crime-prone alleys and intersections.
The barangays that received the motorcycles are those that have the highest crime rate and have high population.
A total of P4.5 million was allotted for the motorcycles, which are equipped with blinkers, siren, radio, and helmets.

He said the blinkers will be used to warn gang members in their barangay.
He said they also have an allocated budget for the motorcycle’s maintenance.
He added the additional motorcycle will be their third motorcycle response unit together with their disaster rescue vehicle.
Lita Empis, the Barangay Captain of Leon Garcia Sr., thanked the city government for the additional motorcycles given to them.
She said the motorcycle will be their fourth motorcycle response unit together with their two disaster rescue vehicles.
“Dako kaayo’ng kalipay kay kulang pod gyud mi og motor labina karon, sa panahon karon nga naa napo’y mga badlungon [aron] nga dali ra makadagan ang amoang mga tanod.
