The Office of the Vice Mayor announced on Tuesday the completion of the updated Compilation of Basic Law and Principles Affecting the Barangay.
Vice Mayor J. Melchor Quitain, in a statement, said that the compilation, which makes up a whole book, is an updated version and the second edition of the compilation.
Inside the 99-page book are the following topics: the Barangay as a Basic Political Unit; Barangay Officials; Punong Barangay; Sangguniang Barangay; Accountability of Public Officials; Administrative Complaints Against Elective Barangay Officials; Barangay Assembly; Miscellaneous Matters; Disposal of Property; Katarungang Pambarangay; Procedure for Amicable Settlement; Procedure for Settling Conflicts Amicably; and Powers of Barangay Under Republic Act No. 9262.
It also contains Katarungang Pambarangay Forms and the Barangays of Davao City.
“Nakumpleto na nato ug update ug revise ang second edition sa (We have finished the updating and revision of the second edition of) Compilation of Basic Law and Principles Affecting the Barangay book which was originally started by my father, Atty. Jesus Melchor V. Quitain, when he was City Legal Officer, City Administrator, and First District Councilor),” Quitain said in an online statement Tuesday.
He said that they aim to distribute copies of the book to the 182 barangays in the city.
The VMO also turned over a copy of the book to the Sangguniang Panlungsod library,” he said.

“I hope mahimo ni nga maayong reference ug guide sa atong mga barangay officials. (I hope that this book will become a reference guide to our barangay officials),” Quitain said. CIO
