The City Social Welfare and Development Office held a citywide general assembly for Persons with Disability at the Apo View Hotel on October 4.

Vilma Dadie, the Focal Person of the Person with Disability Welfare Program, said the general assembly showcased the accomplishments of the Federation Officers for Persons with Disability.

Dadie said the gathering was also an opportunity to foster continuity alignment in future endeavors.

Ang uban, bisan tuod sa ilahang kapansanan pero aduna gyud sila’y way on how to reach out sa ilahang mga kaigsuonan nga PWDs (This is the time to highlight the leaders’ goals and achievements. in addition to the services for which we have allocated funds, I also noticed that they offer other services. It shows that our federation officers take the initiative and don’t solely rely on what was set out to be done. Some, even with their disabilities, still have a way to reach out to their fellow PWDs),” Dadie said.

She said the assembly was also aimed at bolstering the officers’ community efforts and ensure that they reach out to PWDs at the grassroots level.

She said the accomplishments include the cattle-raising project in Barangay Malabog and the giving of clothes and medical kits to PWDs.

A total of 125 officers from the city’s 15 administrative districts attended the assembly.

Norman Jay Trazo Nicdao, a Federation officers, said the general assembly also helped encourage members to participate in their activities.

This is a great [help] to encourage our members to participate in programs that were provided by the government),” he said.

So far, many are happy because of the accomplished programs, that as PWDs, they can show that they can be useful in our community),” he said.

He also urged the members to be part of the implementation of the projects and activities laid out by the government and the federation leaders. CIO
