More Dabawenyo centenarians have received the P100,000 cash incentives from the City Government of Davao through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

Rosevic Joey Jayme, the Officer-In-Charge of the Social Welfare Operation Division (SWOD), said from June to September 2024, a total of 16 centenarians were able to receive cash gifts and plaques, while two others will receive the same in December.

Distributing cash gifts is in accordance with Davao City Ordinance No. 0727-21, Series of 2021, and is one way the city government empowers the centenarians after they reach their milestone age.

Social Workers personally give the cash incentives through house-to-house distribution.

Lorenzo Borja, Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs, earlier said in an interview on the city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) that the elders were happy to receive the cash gifts.

He said beneficiaries or families of beneficiaries must prepare the requirement for the centenarian before they turn 100 years old.

“Bago pa mag-100, i-prepare na nimo iyang requirement, para ma-enjoy pa niya (and kwarta) (Before turning 100, you should prepare the requirements, so he can still enjoy it,” he said. CIO
