The City Government of Davao, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), provides leadership and conflict management training to senior citizens.
The training aims to provide the participants with insightful information about leading their chapter or group.
CSWDO Head Julie Dayaday said it is important for senior citizen leaders to know how to manage and lead, enabling them to work more effectively.
“Even na mga senior citizen na na sila, kinahanglan pod nato sila mabansay-bansay kung unsaon pagpadagan sa ilahang chapter. (Even though they are senior citizens, we still need to train them on how to run their chapter),” Dayaday told the City Information Office.
Dayaday said the training also highlighted the importance of conflict management for senior citizens to easily find respectful ways to manage disputes and disagreements.
“Very important and conflict management, hilabina nga ang atoang mga older person is naa’y mga professional, naa’y dili professional nga mag-apil sa chapter. So very important nga our leaders sa ato’ng senior citizen kahibalo sila unsaon pag-manage, unsaon pag-lead with the dynamic of our older person (conflict management is important, especially since some professionals and non-professionals join our chapter. So, it is essential our senior citizen leaders know how to manage, how to lead with the dynamic of our older person),” Dayaday added.
The holding of the leadership and conflict management training program shows the local government’s dedication to senior citizen empowerment. CIO
