In line with its 6th anniversary, Peace 911 will conduct a medical mission and services caravan in Mapula in Paquibato District, and Baganihan in Marilog District this month.
“Pareha ra gihapon ni sa ginabuhat ni mayor nga caravan pero karon nga year, naa mi medical mission (This is the same as the caravan the city mayor conducts but for this yearwe have medical mission),” Peace 911 Operations Assistant CaryJane Laguna said in a media interview held after the weekly flag ceremony on Monday.
She said that the medical mission and caravan of services are scheduled on May 10 in Barangay Baganihan and May 22 in Barangay Mapula.
Laguna said that for six years, Peace 911 was able to gain the trust of the communities it serves.
“So far sa six years namo kay [na earn namo] ang trust sa mga tao (So far for the past six years we have gained the trust of the people in the community),” Laguna said, adding that vital to this are the city paid barangay coordinators.
Peace 911 have 13 barangay coordinators in Paquibato District, 14 barangay coordinators in Marilog District, and four barangay coordinators in Calinan District.
Laguna said that Peace 911 continues to assist ‘friends rescued’ or former rebels who surrendered.
“Continue gihapon among [pag-assist] sa atong mga naka-detain nga former rebels nga nag trust gyud kay Peace 911, sa amoa nag surrender. So gina-assist namo ilang cases, ilang family since naa pa sila sa PNP naka-detain, naa sila’y monthly na food packs (We continue to assist the detained former rebels who placed their trust in Peace 911 and surrendered to us. We assist in their cases, and also their family since they are still detained, they receive monthly food packs),” she said, adding that the FR and the family receive separate food packs from city offices.
Laguna said that on May 16, eight males and six females– FR will graduate from the Alternative Learning System (ALS) as it is also part of the Peace 911 program to support their education while awaiting the decision on their cases.
Since 2021, they have assisted 85 FRs and as some cases had been dismissed, they now only assist 35 FRs.
Peace 911, was established by Executive Order No. 12 Series of 2018. It is a comprehensive peace-building and development initiative of the city government under the City Mayor’s Office. CIO
