The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) on Thursday distributed Php 1.3 million in cash
assistance to 99 families, whose houses were affected by the two fire incidents that took place in Barangay 76-A on April 7, 2024.
Assistant City Social Welfare and Development Head Sarah Festin, in an interview with Madayaw at SIR Phase II Gym on Thursday, said that out of the 99 families, 84 are from Purok 25 and 26 Muslim Village while the 15 others are from Purok 4.
“Diri sa Muslim Village, naa ta’y 84 ka nasunugan of which naa ta’y 68 ka pamilya nga nagpuyo nianing Muslim Village, ug naa ta’y 16 ka borders nga naapil pud. Among the 84 ka pamilya naa ta’y isa ka partially damaged ug 37 ka totally damaged (Here at the Muslim Village, we have 84 fire victims, of which we have 68 families living here and we have 16 borders. Among the 84 families we have one partially damaged and 37 totally damaged),” Festin said.
She added that for Muslim Village alone, the city allocated Php 1,135,000 for the financial assistance.
Festin added that in Purok 4, the city alloted Php 210,000 for the 15 fire-affected families. Out of the 15, six have suffered partially damaged houses while nine have totally damaged houses.
In a short speech before the cash distribution, Festin urged the recipients of the cash assistance to always be alert and protect their households from any fire occurrences. CIO
