The Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), in coordination with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) XI, organized bus operators who committed to dedicate several units to transport people possibly stranded or affected by the nationwide transport strike on April 15.
“In coordination na no, in collaboration nato sa LTFRB kay sila man ang aduna’y control sa mga bus. Gitawag ang mga bus operator last Friday in preparation for that, nag Zoom meeting mi kinsa’y mag-commit na mga bus [In coordination with the LTFRB, since they are the ones with authority, we asked bus operators on Friday during our Zoom meeting on who can commit to deploy buses in preparation to that],” PCol. Dionisio Abude, Officer-in-Charge of the CTTMO, said in an interview with the City Information Office (CIO) on Monday.
He added that CTTMO enforcers, marshalls, and bus operators are currently on stand-by after they monitored there are public utility jeepneys plying different routes in the city.
The CTTMO also reported that during their monitoring, there were no incidents of stranded passengers in any locations in the city.
According to Abude, they are also monitoring particular areas, including Roxas Avenue, Freedom Park, Matina Crossing, and Milan, Buhangin, for a possible mass mobilization activity.
Meanwhile, a transport group in the city released a statement in a social media post clarifying that there will be no transport strike in Davao on Monday.
The office continues to monitor the city’s streets and highways and assures the public that its personnel are ready for deployment to address transportation and traffic issues. CIO
