The Davao City Chapter of the Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. (PASWI) and 10 local business establishments signed a Memorandum of Agreement which contains pledges to render special offers and discounts to registered social workers for the entire month of June.
The Filipino Social Worker’s Day will be celebrated on June 19.
The signing was part of PASWI’s Pagpupugay sa mga Mangagawang Panlipunan 2024 program held at the Holy Cross of Davao College on March 23. The program aims to recognize outstanding social workers in celebration of 2024 World Social Work Day which fell on March 19 of this year.
The MOA was signed by PASWI officials, Ideal Vision, DR. K Dental Clinic, Al-ag Group of Companies, Rapha Acupuncture Clinic, JJT Psychological Services, Metamorphosis Psychological Services, H&H Gadget House Davao, HB1 Pharmacy, M&L Coiffure Beauty Parlor.
“PASWI Davao City Chapter spearheaded this project as part of our efforts to support our colleagues- dedicated social workers,” said City Social Welfare Development Office Head and Chapter President of PASWI Davao City Julie Dayaday.
Dayaday said for this year’s World Social Work Day, social workers are directed to foster transformative change in the community through “innovative, community-driven approaches”. She said Davao City also puts focus on partnerships to meet this end.
PASWI Davao City Chapter Vice President Rodrigo Roble Jr. said other local brands and business can still partner with PASWI until the first week of June. Some provisions of the MOA may also be expanded until then. He added social workers can avail themselves of the special offers by simply presenting their PRC license. CIO
