After a successful Araw ng Dabaw celebration, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is now set to deploy a total of 27,997 Philippine National Police personnel, police auxiliary, and force multipliers to ensure a safe and orderly observation of the Holy Week and the Ramadan.
From March 22 to March 31, police forces will be assigned to places of worship and areas of convergence in the city.
“Ato na silang i-deploy sa mga simbahan, sa mga mosque para sa atong mga kaigsoonang Muslim, sa airport, inland resorts, sea ports, sa mga terminals, ug uban pa nga mga tourist spots diri sa Davao City (We will deploy them to churches, to mosques for our Muslim brothers and sisters, to the airport, inland resorts, sea ports, in the terminals, and other tourist spots here in Davao City)” said DCPO Spokesperson PCapt. Hazel Tuazon over the Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday.
To secure these areas, Tuazon reminded the public to adhere to the standard security regulations enforced during special events, prohibiting the bringing of jackets, backpacks, sharp objects, non-transparent water bottles and other prohibited items.
For those planning to go on a trip during the long holidays, Tuazon advised families and individuals to secure their homes and leave no chance for burglars.
“Among ginahangyo gyud ang tanan nga kung mubiya sa ilang balay, especially kung wala’y mabilin tao, double-check ninyo, double lock ang mga kilangan i-lock sa isa ka panimalay (We are urging everyone who will be leaving their houses, especially if no one will be left behind, to double-check and double lock all that needs locking up in the house),” Tuazon said.
Tuazon said that just as zero incident was reported during the Araw ng Dabaw festivities, the DCPO plans to achieve the same for the Holy Week and Ramadan observances. To meet this, Tuazon said cooperation and vigilance from each citizen are needed.
“Magbinantayon ta sa atong palibot. Dili lang nato isalig ang tanan sa safety and security cluster, dapat matngon ta, magbantay ta (Let us be aware of our surroundings. Let us not rely on the safety and security cluster alone, let us be aware, vigilant),” she said, CIO
