Dabawenyos living in the Poblacion and Talomo districts, who cannot visit city offices for their medical needs and other services, are now given an option to avail of government services on Saturdays through the Barangayan Serbisyo Publiko of the City Mayor’s Office.
The Barangayan Serbisyo Publiko was launched this month and aims to bring to the barangays the services of city offices, and some national government offices, including
Lingap, the City Social Welfare and Development Office, the City Health Office, the City Agriculturist Office, Philippine Statistics Authority, and Philhealth.
Davao City Mayor Sebastian Baste Duterte, in his speech during the first BSP of the year held on February 10 in Barangay Bago Aplaya,
said that the local government in the previous years has conducted barangay caravans in far-flung areas. Since it has covered many barangays already, the focus has shifted to barangays located in Talomo and Poblacion.
As of February 20, 2024, two BSPs were already conducted – one in Barangay Bago Aplaya and another in Barangay 12- B on February 17, 2024. Residents of 11-B, 12-B, and 13-B also came.
Last February 23, 2024, another BSP will be held at the El-Rio Phase 4 Gym for residents of Barangay 19-B.
CHO Dental Division Head Dr. Rowena Go, in a recent interview with Davao City Disaster Radio, said that through the Barangayan Serbisyo Publiko, people who are busy on weekdays are given the chance to avail of services, such as dental services.
The dental services include tooth extraction and consultation while medical services include those being offered the CHO.
“Daghan pata og schedule dili lang sa February. Tibuok tuig gihatagan nami og schedule (We still have many schedules, not only for February. For the whole year we already have schedules),” Go said. CIO
