Employees from different departments proved they were also excellent in the fun walk with festive motifs, zumba, and cheer dance competitions during the Araw sa Empleyado event held at Rizal Park on March 14, 2024.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) bagged the Php 80,000 cash prize and a trophy as champion for the Sayaw Kasadya Cheerdance Competition. The City Health Office (CHO) bagged Php 50,000 in cash prize and a trophy as 1st runner-up and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) won as the 2nd runner-up and went home with Php 35,000 cash and a trophy.
For the Hataw Empleyado Zumba-Open Category, Mr. James Antiampo from the City Planning and Development Office bagged the prize for the male division, and Maria Rowena Anding from the Public Safety and Security Office bagged the prize for the female division. Each received Php 3,000 and a trophy.
For the Hataw Empleyado Zumba-Advance Category, the five winners of Php 5,000 each and a trophy include Mr. Rogelio Cavalito Jr. from the City Assessor’s Office, Mr. Michael Garcia from the Sangguniang Panlungsod, and Geronimo Hicario from the City College of Davao.
The winners of the advanced category also received 5,000 each.
For the Parada Empleyado (Fun Walk) the Sangguiang Panlungsod was declared champion while the Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) was the first runner-up. The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) was the second runner-up.
The prizes for the Parada Empleyado Fun Walk are Php 10,000 with a trophy for the champion, Php 7,000 cash and a trophy for the 1st Runner-up, and Php 5,000 for the 2nd runner-up.
Davao City Vice Mayor J. Melchor, during his speech, said that the Araw ng Empleyado is a day when the employees are bound to enjoy and have a break from their duties.
He gave a salute to the employees whom he said are the backbone of the local government unit.
“You, employees are constantly here running all the departments, giving services to all the Dabawenyos in need. You are the implementors. I salute you and congratulations for the job well done this year, last year, and many years before that,” Quitain said.
Quitain also highlighted that the recent survey by a private school in Davao City revealed that Dabawenyos are content with their lives here and that such is good news and is something that is to be maintained.
He also said that the same survey revealed that Dabawenyos are happiest when they are together with their friends and families.
“My advice to you my fellow government workers and employees, we have situations like this and we have holidays, we have Kadayawan, and Araw ng Dabaw any day of the year where we can take a break and enjoy it with your friends and families. You deserve to relax and enjoy once in a while because for 365 days you work and render service to the city,” Quitain said.
