The leaders of the city’s 11 tribes vouched for the full participation of their youth in the 2024 Kadayawan Festival events.
During the Kadayawan Media Conference held last July 25, deputy mayors from the 11 tribes described the eagerness of their youth to participate in the Kadayawan events that involve the showcase of talents, cultures, and traditions.
“They are very excited for the celebration gyud, sa parades, tribal house, Bantawan, and even in the day-to-day celebration at the tribal house, Makita gyud nato sila,” said Bagobo Klata Deputy Mayor Erwin B. Adolfo.
nila lantawon ang Kadayawan kay happy sila nga magperform napud sila during Kadayawan (Every year our youth, our elders and our leaders look forward to the Kadayawan because for us
it is where we showcase our culture and tradition, especially to the youth of today. We as leaders are thankful because our IP youth are very active in our culture and tradition and they are always present and look forward to the Kadayawan because they are happy to perform again),” Bagobo Tagabawa Deputy Mayor Sheirelle U. Anino said in the same forum.
Meanwhile, Iranun Deputy Mayor Pamikeren Latip P. Arumpac Jr. also said in the same forum that
they always encourage young members of the tribe to perform in the Bantawan and join in Dula Kadayawan.
For our Bantawan, we encourage the performers to be from the younger generation, especially in the Dula Kadayawan because most of our games are slowly forgotten so we really encourage our youth),” Arumpac said, adding that the involvement of the youth is their biggest role in the Kadayawan events.
