The Davao City Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) warned Dabawenyos anew against spreading false information that disturbs the city’s peace and order.

Dabawenyos are also urged to report illegal activities to proper authorities or call 911 instead of posting in social media.

The warning was issued following the spread of a video of an alleged abduction incident in Buhangin.

In the video shared by a concerned citizen, unidentified men were seen forcing an individual inside a black van in Purok 8, Barangay Communal, Buhangin on January 26.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) immediately conducted a thorough investigation in coordination with barangay officials in the area.

In a statement released by the DCPO, investigation reports reveal that there was no suspicious or criminal activity observed, and there was no evidence indicating an attempted abduction.

Police officers along with barangay officials also visited the area where the incident allegedly happened. However, the place did not match the described location in the post and the video that circulated online.

“Police records, as well as those of Barangay Communal, confirm that no report of a missing person or abduction has been filed in the area,” PCol. Hansel Marantan, DCPO’s Acting City Director, said in a statement released on the DCPO’s Facebook Page.

The public is reminded to verify any information before sharing online. Any emergency or suspicious activity should be reported directly to proper authorities for immediate action. CIO
