Around 40 district social workers, law enforcement officers from the Davao City Police Office, and Department of Health representatives participated in the three-day “Trainor’s Training on Case Management on Children who Used Drugs (CWUD) and Protocol on Handling Children at Risk (CAR ), and Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL). The training is being held from September 2-4 at the Grand Menseng Hotel, Davao City.

Lynmar S. Podador, RSW, Tara Na Community-Based Rehabilitation and Aftercare Program (CBRAP)-City Social Welfare and Development Office focal person and lead organizer of the event, told Madayaw that this is the first time the event is held.

Podador said that the training aims to elevate the professional skills of the Direct Service Implementers handling the CWUD, CICL, and CAR. A unified approach to managing CWUD cases is also the training’s target.

“Kada bata lahi-lahi ang iyang protocol and intervention and plan. Mao na si Women and Children Protection Desks (WCPD), social workers, Department of Health (DOH), and the Cadac are present para uniform ang among treatment sa proper handling (Each child has a different protocol, intervention and plan. This is the reason why the WCPD, social workers, DOH and the Cadac are present so that our treatment and handing will be uniform),” she said, adding that knowledge in proper handing would be a great help in terms of helping children to become better.

She said that representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Public Attorney’s Office were invited to shed light on some topics.

Podador said that the CICL aftercare program is underscored in the training.

She said that by improving case management practices, participants are expected to contribute to the city’s efforts to reduce drug abuse, support the rehabilitation of affected children, and enhance the community’s overall well-being. CIO
