The City Government of Davao, through the Kadayawan Festival Official Page, announced that Php 5,000,000 in prizes will be given out in the Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan 2024.
The total amount of prizes this year is more than last year’s.
The Indak Indak sa Kadayawan, a vibrant street dancing event, showcases the diverse indigenous cultures in Mindanao. It has an Open category for those outside Davao City (provincial school-based, LGU-based or community-based, corporate-sponsored contingent, organizations, and others).
It also has the Davao City School-Based Category, which can be participated in by elementary and high school groups or a combination of both from within Davao City.
Based on the guidelines posted on July 4, 2024, the Open Category will have a Php 1.1 million prize for the grand winner, which is higher than last year’s Php 1 million.
However, the prize for the Davao School-Based remains at Php1 million.
The second, third, fourth, and fifth placers for this year’s contest in both the open and Davao School categories will bring home similar to that of last year’s prizes, Php 500,000, Php 400,000, Php 300,000, and Php 200,000, respectively.
However, the prizes for the special awards were also increased to Php 50,000 from last year’s Php 30,000. The special awards are for Best Music, Best Choreography, and Best in Artistic Design in both categories.
While there was no limit for the number of consolation prizes in 2023, this year, only 10 consolation prizes will be given out in the open category while in the school-based category, there will only be five recipients this year.
However, the consolation prizes also increased from Php 30,000 to Php 50,000 in both categories.
