The City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO) on Tuesday feted 14 best child development workers per district and awarded the 2024 Davao City Best Child Development Worker during the Child Development Workers Day celebration at Rizal Park.
Recognized as the 2024 Davao Best Child Development Worker is Gloria A. Maputol from Baguio District. She bested the other 13 best child development workers from the other districts.
A child development worker for 31 years, Maputol said that the recognition means a lot to her and it would be impossible without the collaboration of her colleagues.
She thanked the CSWDO for acknowledging her efforts as a child development worker.
“This award inspires me to continue the excellence in providing the best care and nurturing environment to our children,” Maputol said.
CSWDO cited Maputol’s commendable partnership with the barangay, parents, and other CDWs. It also acknowledged appropriate strategies and skills manifested in teaching.
Recognized also as the best child development workers in their respective districts are Nueva S. Sabandon for City Poblacion A; Teofila T. Baterna for City Poblacion B; Joniza C. Formal for Talomo A; Mary Annabelle C. Abinsay for Agdao District; Joyce B. Escaro for Buhangin B; Marilyn S. Fuentes for Buhangin A; Elizabeth T. Arguilla for Bunawan; Neneta A. Garcia for Paquibato; Rea A. Elepante for Toril A; Divine Grace G. Laud for Toril B; Maria Cecelia U. Entero for Tugbok; Erika Fairag B. Barbadillo for Caliban; and Ivy Mae A. Panda for Marilog District.
Maputol received Php 10,000 as a prize for the recognition while the best district child development workers received Php 5,000 each. All of the awardees also received various goods from city offices.
Retiring CDWs for this year were also given recognition, given flowers, and were serenaded with beautiful songs.
Aside from the recognition of commendable CDWs, a creative presentation competition which was participated in by all 15 districts gave spice to the event and made the event more colorful.
CSWDO Early Childhood Care and Development Head Elena Gabaton said that the CDW Day is a yearly event that they organize, together with the CDW Federation, to showcase the talents and skills of child development workers, as well as to recognize their excellence and contribution in their field. CIO
