The Davao City government will continue to provide food assistance to families or individuals affected by the movement restrictions and other anti-Covid measures while the city remains under community quarantine.

Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte assured Dabawenyos that whatever the quarantine classification of the city is, as long as some families or individuals are affected by the measures to stop the Covid-19, the city government – through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) – will continue to give food assistance to those in need.

“Ang atoang CSWDO, gapadayon gihapon og support katong mga establishments that are affected by the MGCQ. It doesn’t matter kung naka ECQ, GCQ, MGCQ ta, gapadayon sila og panghatag. (Our CSWDO continues to support the establishments that are affected by the MGCQ. It doesn’t matter if we are under ECQ, GCQ, MGCQ, they will continue to give food assistance),” she said.

Even in her State of the City Address on Monday, Mayor Sara highlighted her administration’s food relief assistance as a top priority since the lockdown in March.

“We encourage everyone who needs help and “ayuda sa pagkaon” to please reach out to our Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office social workers for immediate assistance,” she said.

Since March, the city has distributed 1,305,454 grocery packs to 448,312 households in all 182 barangays during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) period. Also, a total of 70,994 food packs were given to workers of establishments that are still not operating in full capacity and sectors affected by the quarantine restrictions.

Atty. Marlisa Gallo, the head of the CSWDO, said that those who need assistance should not hesitate to go to CSWDO district offices.

“Kabalo man ta na wala gihapon ta nahuman sa atong fight against Covid-19, and daghan gihapon ang mga pamilya na naapektuhan pag ayo. Ang uban nawalaan ug trabaho. So ang CSWDO, nagpadayon sa panghatag og assistance sa mga nanginahanglan. Feel free to go to our District offices para mangayo sa inyong food assistance (We know that our fight against Covid19 is not yet over, and a lot of families have been affected. Some lost their jobs. So the CSWDO continues to assist those in need. Feel free to go to our District offices to ask for food assistance,” she said. CIO
