Dabawenyos happy over 'safe, convenient' bus rides
Davao City Hall said the 14-day Libreng Sakay from SM Lanang to SM Ecoland, in line with the 33rd Kadayawan Festival, was a huge success.
Lawyer Tristan Dwight Domingo, Assistant City Administrator for Administration, said that Dabawenyos were satisfied and happy with the free bus ride service — based on the survey that the city government had conducted among the passengers.
“The initial feedback that was received by the city would show that the passengers were all satisfied,” he said. “Most of the top two comments that we received were that the bus was safe and convenient.”
Domingo said that the positive feedback the city received is a good sign and a manifestation that Dabawenyos are open to the use of the bus system the city government has planned to adopt.
He noted that the primary consideration that the city considers before the transition from jeepney to buses is that the safety and convenience of the passengers.
“We do think that we really deserve the best here in Davao in terms of public transportation and we think that we can achieve that through the implementation of the bus system,” Domingo said.
As soon as the bus system will be implemented in the city, Domingo assured the public that the city government will commit designated bus stops and the interval of the buses will be strictly followed.
He said the city government hopes that the implementation of the bus system can start before the year ends.
Domingo, however, said that they are still studying the possible routes the bus system can initially be implemented.
The High Priority Bus System is one of the 10 priorities of Mayor Inday Sara Duterte to lessen the traffic congestion and to improve the public transportation in the city.
Plans were already in place to help jeepney drivers, who will be affected, as soon as the bus system will be implemented. CIO
