Malagos Garden Resort, showcasing nature's splendid beauty

A tour to the best spots in Davao City will never be complete without a day or two spent at the Malagos Garden resort. This 12-hectare resort is like heaven on earth for nature lovers where tall stately pines provide cool cover to its facilities and sanctuaries. It is a perfect picnic place for families on weekends where numerous and fun-filled activities can be easily had.

Malagos Garden Resort is an accredited wildlife farm most famous for its butterflies, indigenous birds, and other species, some of which are being showcased at the Petting Zoo (where dogs and turtles perform amazing tricks).

The much-talked about Interactive Bird Show on Sundays is not only entertaining but at the same time, educational. The Adventure Playground is simply irresistible for kids where a tall tower in the middle stands over a sprawling network of seesaws and slides.

Significantly, the world’s lone Waling-waling Forest can also be found inside the resort where hundreds of these orchids crawl and hang over thick array of mango and grapefruit trees.

The butterfly sanctuary is a net covered dome  featuring another wonder of nature where one is able to see these species mate, lay eggs, become caterpillars, then pupae, and metamorphose into their glorious and graceful forms as butterflies.

Complementing the fantastic landscape of the resort are large attention grabbing sculptures and masterpieces by National Artist Napoleon Abueva to provide visitors a perfect blend of art and nature at their best.

The cottages in the resort offer luxurious amenities comparable to a 4-star hotel. The resort also has sports facilities, function rooms, a souvenir shop, and a swimming pool.

In all of this fleetingly harmonious display of nature, artworks, fun-filled activities, and amazing facilities, the cool and fresh mountain breeze is your cherry on top of the cream. (Ivan Chin Cortez /DCIPC)

Notes: Malagos Garden Resort is the 1st property in the Philippines and the 39th in the world to be certified in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Business and Properties of Audubon International, a worldwide environmental organization based in the USA.
